Russia to increase meat production

Meat production in Russia will reach 550 thousand tonnes through the end of this year, according to Yelena Skrynnik, Russian Agricultural Minister.

Meat production in Russia will reach 550 thousand tonnes through the end of this year, according to Yelena Skrynnik, Russian Agricultural Minister.

Overally, under the state programme, Russia targets to increase meat production to 10 million tonnes this year, comparing with 9.52 million tonnes planned before.

By 2012, if compared with 2007, the meat production output would rise 30% to 11.54 million tonnes, live weight.
