The Russian veterinary authorities (Rosselkhoznadzor) informed last week about the detection, once more, of meat products made with meat from pigs infected with African swine fever.

The detecction was made in Kirovsk, in the region of Leningrad.

The Rosselkhoznadzor announced that the pig meat products (bacon, sausages, fresh meat) violated the established requirements for the control and the eradication of the African swine fever.

After this finding, the Veterinary service has urged the state authorities to increase the controls of the meat trade and the fight against the meat trade in non-authorized places.
