Russia: pig production increase

The production in terms of the volume of pigs to be slaughtered on large farms rose by 17.2% (+ 95.2 tonnes) and reached 649,000 tonnes.

According to data of the Stockbreeding Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, during the first trimester of this year the production of pigs to be slaughtered on all the farm categories (large, medium and small farms) reached 855,600 tonnes, and this represents a rise by 9.6% (or 75,200 tonnes) with respect to year 2013.

The production in terms of the volume of pigs to be slaughtered on large farms increased by 17.2% (+ 95.2 tonnes) and reached 649,000 tonnes. The highest growth happened in Belgorod (170,400 tonnes), Kursk (45 tonnes), Tambov (34.6 tonnes), Rostov (29.3 tonnes), Lipetsk (27 tonnes) and the Republic of Tatarstan (27.3 tonnes).

The average daily gain during the growing and fattening periods rose by 8.3% and amounted 525 grams in comparison with the first trimester of 2013.
