Per capita meat consumption grew 7% to 63 kilograms in the Russian Federation in 2008.

34% of all raised slaughter livestock and poultry in Russia in 2008 accounted for cattle, 33% - for poultry, 28% - for hogs, 4% - for sheep and goats, and the rest was for other livestock groups. According to Federal State Statistics Service’s information, meat production including by-products grew 11.6% to 2.9m tons from the same period in 2007.
