On July 10, 2023, representatives of Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) discussed issues related to combating African swine fever (ASF) in Russia and China with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GAC) via videoconference.
Representatives from Rosselkhoznadzor and the Federal Centre for Animal Health Protection spoke about the compartmentalization system of pig farms, adopted in Russia to counter the spread of dangerous animal diseases (in particular, ASF), and also received information from the GAC about the Chinese compartmentalization system and ASF monitoring.
The joint work conducted by Rosselkhoznadzor and the GAC will make it possible to assess the risks associated with possible pork shipments from Russia to China and to develop an effective mechanism to ensure epizootic safety during trade in this type of product.
