Romania might resume exports of pork as of July after a commission of the European Union will check if hotbeds of swine fever still exist, Adrian Rădulescu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), said.

Rădulescu added that Romania notified the EU in December 2009 to check if there still were hotbeds of swine fever, and if they did not exist any longer, exports to be resumed.

According to the MARD official, there is a period of six months from the time of notification until the Commission comes to assess the situation.
