Poland: current situation of Aujeszky's disease

The provinces of Greater Poland (Wielkopolskie), Lesser Poland (Malopolskie) and Subcarpathian Poland (Podkarpackie) still have counties affected by the disease.

According to the data updated on 5th March 2014, there are still several counties in which eradication programs are applied that are not Aujeszky's disease-free. These counties are located in the provinces of Greater Poland (Wielkopolskie), Lesser Poland (Malopolskie) and Subcarpathian Poland (Podkarpackie).

The majority of the counties that carry out the eradication program are located in the Subcarpathian province (Podkarpackie).

Map of the regions acknowledged as free from the Aujeszky's disease virus in pigs as of March 2014.

The movements of pigs from farms that are officially free from the Aujeszky's disease virus in the regions that are free from the disease are carried out with normality, whilst the movements of animals from farms that are free from the disease in counties in which eradication programs are being carried out is made fulfilling several conditions: among them, the animals will have to be subjected to two serologic tests that will have to give a negative result.
