Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap has ordered the Bureau of Animal Industry to establish livestock disease-free zones in Mindanao to revive hopes of exporting pork to Singapore.

Yap told reporters on Thursday that the diseas-free zones would be tightly guarded to prevent the entry of diseases that could spoil production.

He said only by ensuring customers in other countries that the Philippines was free of the dreadful swine flu and other diseases could they become confident about the country's pork products.
