Last week China's veterinary authorities informed the OIE of a new focus of foot and mouth disease.

In this case, the outbreak affects only cattle (389 susceptible animals) and sheep/goats (293) from a village located in the Ningxia region.

According to information submitted to the OIE by Dr Zhang Zhongqui, Director General , China Animal Disease Control Centre, a new outbreak of FMD has been confirmed in Jing Xiang village (GUIZHOU).
