The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) will strengthen, in 2018, the health programmes in the states to protect the agricultural and livestock, aquaculture and fishing production from pests and diseases that could impede the commercialisation of food both inside and outside the country.

The Director-in-chief of the National Agrifood Health, Harmlessness and Quality Service (SENASICA), Mr Enrique Sánchez Cruz, claimed so. The SAGARPA’s civil servant announced that the Congress of the Union increased by more than 100 million pesos the SENASICA’s budget, and that they will be allocated to federal bodies, so they are allotted to several agrifood health and harmlessness programmes.

To do this, agreements shall be reached with the people in charge of the State Health Committees, so the resources are allotted to high impact matters in accordance with the health condition of each body.
