The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to expedite the safe import of livestock products into Mexico by extending the use of the Animal Health Quality Password for reliable importers (UCON).

This initiative, managed by the National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety, and Quality (Senasica), recognizes companies complying with Mexican regulations for safe meat importation, assigning them a code.

Shipments with a UCON password undergo only a documentary review, reducing inspection time by up to 80% and limiting container opening to federally inspected (TIF) plants. This streamlined process maintains product traceability, minimizes contamination risks, and ensures the integrity of the cold chain, offering efficiency for importers and customs authorities.

The UCON password expedites customs clearance, taking 45 to 60 minutes on average, in contrast to the usual three to five hours for inspected shipments.
