The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) published on Monday, January 5, in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) the Agreement declaring the State of Jalisco —leading producer of pigs in the country— an area free of Aujeszky's disease.

The agreement, signed by the head of SAGARPA, Enrique Martínez y Martínez, has a positive impact on the Agency's promotion of hog production, valued at more than 11,612,000 pesos, making it more profitable and competitive, as it encourages the commercialization of pigs and their products and by-products, both domestically and in international markets.

The agreement states that, in order for the State of Jalisco to remain free of Aujeszky's disease, sanitary measures for diagnosis, prevention, control, epidemiological surveillance, control of mobilization, transport, transit, marketing and traceability of pigs must be applied.
