The Ministry of Agriculture, Stockbreeding, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) published, in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the agremeent by which the state of Guanajuato is declared free of Aujeszky'sdisease.

This statement has a positive impact on the promotion of pig production in Guanajuato, with a pig population close to one million heads.

The new status is a product of the coordination of the actions of the pig producers and the Federal Government through the National Health, Harmlessness, and Food and Agriculture Quality Service (SENASICA) and the government of Guanajuato, that developed and executed the sanitary efforts for the diagnosis, control, eradication and the active and passive epidemiologic surveillance of the aforementioned disease.
