Spain: Meat leads agri-food exports

Agri-food and fisheries exports reached a record 70,431 million euros in 2023, an increase of 3% compared to 2022.

Spanish agri-food and fisheries exports reached a record 70,431 million euros in 2023, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA). This figure represents an increase of 3% compared to the provisional 2022 figure and crossed the 70 billion mark for the first time.

The positive balance of the agri-food and fisheries sector totaled 15,472 million euros, 10% more than the previous year. Exports from the agri-food sector accounted for 18.4% of Spain's total exports

Regarding the main export subsectors in 2023, the meat group is in first place with 10,299 million euros, followed by fruits with 9,977 million euros, and vegetables with 8,864 million euros.

Regarding the destinations for agri-food and fisheries exports in 2023, 67.4% went to the European Union, an increase of 8.2% compared to 2022 and 32.6% went to third countries, a decrease of 6.2%.
