India has pledged to offer privileges for local and foreign investors to invest in meat processing in the country to serve a huge potential domestic market and for export as well. This was stated by Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister of Food Processing Industries. He said there would be no tax on investment in the sector.

Indians spent 40-45% of their income on food and failure to exploit the potential in meat and poultry processing would jeopardise the local industry.
