Brazil: In nine months, pork exports surpass the 2019 total

The cumulative balance in 2020 surpasses last year's total exports, which were 750,000 tonnes.

The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) surveys show that Brazilian pork exports (all products, raw and processed) totaled 764,900 tonnes in the first nine months of 2020, which is 42.9% greater than the total shipped by the sector in 2019 (534,900 tonnes).

The same performance can also be seen in the dollars value of exports. Between January and September, Brazilian pork sales reached US$ 1.677 billion, a balance that exceeds the 2019 sales for the same period (US$ 1.103 billion) by 51.9%.

The cumulative performance in 2020 is also higher than all the revenue obtained in 2019 (US$ 1.597 billion). Considering only the month of September, sector sales totaled 86,500 tonnes, a volume 33% higher than the same period of 2019 (65,000 tonnes). In revenue, the monthly high is 34%, with US$ 188.5 million in the ninth month of 2020, against US$ 140.5 million in 2019. Asia continues to be the main promoter of sector exports in 2020 (January to September).

China, the largest importer of Brazilian pork, increased its imports by 133% this year compared to 2019, reaching 376,700 tonnes. In second place, Hong Kong imported 131,600 tonnes (+14%). Singapore, with 41,900 tonnes (+61%) came in third place. Vietnam increased its imports by 205%, with 32,900 tonnes shipped in 2020.
