Germany: Summit to analyze the crisis in the pig sector

The Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture wanted to analyze, together with her counterparts from the Federal States, the possible measures to alleviate the crisis suffered by German pig farmers.

On November 27th, Minister Klöckner convened a web summit to analyze, together with the Ministers of Agriculture of the Federal States, the difficult situation faced by German pig farmers.

Among the measures proposed, the storage aid for pork and the direct aid to pig farmers within the framework of the aid established to address the coronavirus are particularly noteworthy. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) plans to start with the payment of private storage aid in mid-January.
