The German Federal Cabinet has approved the new German Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy (DART 2020).

The aim of "DART 2020" is to avoid the global development and spread of antibiotic resistance. The plan is to introduce several measures in medicine and agriculture, following the clinical concept of "One Health".

Some of objectives of the "DART 2020" are:

  • Strengthen not only national but also international efforts in a "One Health" approach.
  • Identify the development of resistance at an early stage.
  • Maintain and improve treatment options.
  • Interrupt chains of infection early and prevent infection.
  • Strengthen knowledge and capacity.
  • Support all relevant areas of research in human and veterinary medicine.
