The Max Rubner-Institute (MRI) will be extended by an International Competence Center on Meat Quality, declared Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Ilse Aigner during the annual symposium “Kulmbacher Woche”.

The Competence Center was supposed to develop European standards for the quality of the most important meat varieties, Aigner said. Another goal is to raise awareness for the safety of meat products alongside the complete food store chain.
