The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has launched a second aid package for farmers and livestock farmers in sectors that are particularly suffering from the consequences of the war in Ukraine. This consists of a small energy-specific aid package and complements the first package that started to be paid out at the beginning of last week. Both measures have a total of 180 million euros at their disposal.

The Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) is responsible for paying this second package. Due to the legal requirements of the European Union, an application must be submitted between October 1 and 31 to apply for the aid.

As with the first subsidy, companies in the horticulture, viticulture, poultry, and pig production sectors are eligible to claim this second subsidy. The individual subsidy depends on the area and number of animals on a farm and is limited to €15,000 per enterprise.
