In order to combat and contain African swine fever (ASF), the regulations on the mandatory notification and cooperation of hunters have been amended. Thus, the requirement to examine all wild boar hunted in good health has been extended to the districts of Meissen and Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains as well as to the state capital Dresden, as it previously only applied to the districts of Görlitz and Bautzen. The cost allocation for this purpose is €50 per wild boar.

There are currently 481 confirmed cases of ASF in Saxony. The risk area, in which wild boars with the virus are currently found, is located in large parts of the district of Görlitz and the eastern municipalities of the district of Bautzen.
