Germany: Decrease in slaughter in first quarter of 2021

Pig slaughter in Germany was down 4.2% in the first quarter of 2021.

Around 13.39 million pigs were slaughtered in Germany during the first three months of 2021, approximately 596 thousand animals (-4.4%) less than in the same period of the previous year.

As for pork production, about 1.3 million tons were produced during the first quarter of 2021, a slight decrease of 2.7% compared to the first quarter of last year, due to higher slaughter pig weights.
