The Berlin-Brandenburg State Laboratory detected African swine fever (ASF) in five other wild boars on Tuesday. The animals were found near the community of Neuzelle in the Oder-Spree district, all of them within the defined endangered area.

These are four wild boars found dead and one wild boar that was shot.

In the endangered area there are 41 active registered pig farms with a total of 12,710 pigs, including five farms that hold between 200 and 5,000 pigs, according to information from the Federal Government of Brandenburg while there are no domestic pigs in the current core area.

Following the usual procedure, the five samples have been sent to the National Reference Laboratory at the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, which must confirm the results.
