The Federal Ministry of Agriculture has welcomed the declaration of intent to develop a regionalization agreement between Germany and China, considering it an important step forward. The declaration aims to enable the future export of German pork and other pork products to China, despite African swine fever (ASF).
During the German Chancellor's trip to China, a roadmap was agreed upon to recognize the success of the regionalization measures implemented in response to ASF. Since the first case of ASF in 2020, the export of German pork and other pork products to China has not been permitted. A protocol was also signed that, for the first time, allows the export of poultry products to China.
