European Union - Increase in exports of pork meat and pork products

During the past 11 months of last year the exportation of pork meat and pork products from the European Union (EU) increased by 13,9 percent in the period from January –November 2009, reaching 2.455.409 tons.

During the past 11 months of last year the exportation of pork meat and pork products from the European Union (EU) increased by 13,9 percent in the period from January –November 2009, reaching 2.455.409 tons. The main destinations were Russia (752.702 tn), followed by Hong Kong (385.039 tn), Japan (203.206 tn), China (193.964 tn), Ukraine (126.081 tn), South Korea (91.204 tn) and the Philippines (82.135 tn), among others.

Imports, on the other hand, decreased by 15,1%, with 40.071 tn imported. The principal importing countries are Switzerland with 15.930 tn,, Chile (8.186 tn) and the USA (5.560 tn).
