European Union - First trimester exportations of pork increase by 20%

Throughout the first trimester of this year UE27 pork exportations have increased by 27,9%, in comparison with the same period last year, reaching 728.356 tons.

Throughout the first trimester of this year UE27 pork exportations have increased by 27,9%, in comparison with the same period last year, reaching 728.356 tons.

The main destination continues to be Russia, with 27% (196.985 t) and with an increase of 16% with respect to the first trimester of 2010 follows Hong Kong with 17,4% of the total (127.721 tons and a 38% increase) and in third place South Korea where exports have grown by 164% with respect to the first trimester of 2010, with a total of 137.4221 tons exported, representing 8,8% of total exportations.

With respect to importations, these have decreased by 24,3%, reaching 9.374 tons. The principal providers are Switzerland with 50% of the total (4.656 tons), Chile (1743 tons) and Croatia (1258 tons).
