El Salvador – Reopening the border to Guatemalan pork products

The Salvadorian Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) authorized, for one year, the importation of pigs and pork proceeding from certified Guatemalan farms, alter confirming with Salvadorian authorities the elimination of swine fever on those farms.

The Salvadorian Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) authorized, for one year, the importation of pigs and pork proceeding from certified Guatemalan farms, alter confirming with Salvadorian authorities the elimination of swine fever on those farms.


El Salvador is expecting the importation of 500 pigs per week, in accordance with estimations from the Association of Guatemalan Hog Farmers (Apogua), which is the main destination of Guatemalan pork meat, followed by Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panamá.
