Disease management through genetic resistance is widely used to reduce attacks and epidemics in crops, thus contributing to global food accessibility. Among this type of genes, Rps -Resistance to Phytophthora sojae- is used to reduce the impact of the causal agent of a disease known as soybean stem and root rot.

The study aimed to characterize the adaptability of Phytophthora sojae to disease management using genetic resistance. The results of the study showed that in recent years there has been a loss of efficacy for the control of this disease in Argentina, Canada, and the United States, due to the continued use of only a handful of Rps genes.
