Although the Danish pig producers are among the ones that use less antibiotics, during the first semester of 2015 their consumption has dropped again. The drop has been by 9.1% with respect to the same period in 2014.

Anyhow, although the 3,500 Danish pig producers pertaining to the VSP (Danish Pig Research Centre) announced, last year, that before the end of 2015 they would reduce the use of tetracyclines by half, it seems that this goal wil not be attained because, at this moment, the drop has only reached 20.5%.

On the other hand, it is expected that during this month the work that allows to improve the current “yellow card” system begins. Its objective isto reduce the use of antibiotics in pig production.
