The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Victor Villalobos Arámbula, held a virtual and in-person work meeting with members of the National Agricultural Council (CNA), the National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (ANTAD), the National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (CANACAR) and representatives of supply centers, in order to carry out coordinated actions in production processes, logistics, and transportation to ensure sufficient supply of food during the health emergency.

During the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture stated that the Government of Mexico's priority is to coordinate inter-institutional efforts with the production and trade sectors, in order to ensure the function of the production, supply, and distribution chains, with the participation of the main stakeholders.

During the meeting, a working group was formed comprised of private sector representatives and federal authorities, with the commitment of strengthening health protocols in the sector's activities, in transport logistics, and in the supply of shopping centers, with emphasis on caring for agro-industry workers.

He noted that the surveillance, inspection and certification systems for imports and exports are constantly working, and a closer coordination between Senasica and the CNA will be implemented at this stage to continue the work on health and safety, in order to protect the national agrifood legacy.
