The WOAH's Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases, once having assessed the results of the audit visit to Colombia, acknowledged that the area including the regions of Choco, Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, Valle del Cauca, and some municipalities in the regions of Antioquia and Cauca fulfil the requirements to be declared a Classical Swine Fever-free area, and recommended that the region is declared as such by the Representatives' World Meeting during the general meeting that will be held in May in Paris, France.

This acknowledgement is one of the main achievements of the Colombian pig production sector in terms of health, and demonstrates the joint work of the ICA and the association Porkcolombia – Pig Production National Fund, directed towards the improvement of the national health status and the search for international markets for pork and pig products.
