Colombia: increase in the number of pigs slaughtered

During the first quarter of this year a total of 790,595 pigs have been slaughtered, representing a growth of 11.2%  over the same period in 2014.

According to data published by the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, a total of 790,595 pigs have been slaughtered during the first quarter of this year, representing a growth of 11.2% over the same period in 2014.

The department with the highest slaughter figures was Antioquia, with 48.3% of the total (381,771 pigs slaughtered), followed by Bogotá with 22.1% (174,532 pigs), and Valle del Cauca with 14.9% (117,588 pigs.)
