The Colombian Agricultural Institute, ICA, carries out inspection, surveillance and control activities when products of porcine origin enter the department of Amazonas, in order to identify those which would put the health of the community at risk and threaten the area's sanitary status as free from classical swine fever.

This control is done at the Alfredo Vásquez Cobo International Airport, where the staff verifies the conditions for the entry of meat products, as well as compliance with health requirements for its transport and subsequent marketing in Leticia, with the support of the municipal Health Secretariat.

In the procedure carried out, with the support of the National Police, a total of 134 kg of pig products and by-products, consisting of skin and heads were seized and placed at the disposal of the Departmental Health Secretariat for subsequent destruction.

Through Resolution 320 of 2009, after conducting a risk analysis the ICA declared the department of Amazonas free of CSF.
