The State Council issued a notice on Sept 22 to enhance regulation on pesticide and veterinary medicine to safeguard food safety.

According to the circular, highly toxic ingredients are strictly forbidden in pesticide and veterinary medicine. Counterfeit products will result in severe punishment.

Meanwhile, management and guidance, random check of residue of pesticide and veterinary medicine will be intensified. Market entry for edible agricultural products will be reinforced. Efforts will also be made to reduce water and soil pollution to safeguard food safety from the root.

In addition, severe measures will be taken to crack down on any violation. Local governments have been ordered to fulfill their duties to enhance administration and supervision on food safety.
