China starts stockpiling pork on falling prices

China’s central government is set to start buying frozen pork for the national reserves next week, in an attempt to relieve live hog oversupply and the continuous price fall in live hog and pork. The first batch of some 120,000 tonnes of frozen pork will be scheduled, while the target volume is expected to reach 200,000 tonnes.
