China has already imported almost one million tons of pork this year

During the first quarter of 2020 China has imported 950,000 tons of pork.

Import figures from January to March this year provided by the Chinese Customs Service reveal a significant increase in pork and offal imports.

Pork imports now total 950,000 tonnes, reaching almost half of the total imported in 2019 (2,002,679 tonnes) just in the first three months. For the same period the previous year, China imported 334,300 t, almost three times less.

With offal included, imports between January and March stand at 1,240,000 t.
