Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Mr.Jerzy Bogdan Plewa, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG-AGRI) in Beijing on June 16th, 2014. The two sides had an intensive discussion on strengthening China-EU agricultural cooperation.

The two sides agreed that, based on existing sound foundation, agricultural cooperation between China and the EU is promising with great potentials. On priorities defined by the China-EU Cooperation Plan on Agriculture and Rural Development, and by leveraging respective resources, China and the EU will enhance cooperation in sustainable agricultural development, geographical indication, agricultural research and agricultural trade in a pragmatic manner, striving to make agricultural cooperation a new highlight in China-EU cooperation.

The two sides also reached consensus on the coming ninth meeting of China-EU Dialogue on Agriculture in Europe.
