January targets to a change in trend in Portuguese exports compared to recorded in recent years. With the exception of 2019, when China clearly led the ranking of thirds countries to which Portugal exports pork and pork products, leadership has consistently corresponded to Angola.
This was the casein 2025, when the Angolan market represented 25% of the value of Portuguese pork exports, reaching EUR 14.6 million. China was the second destination in value, with EUR 8.8 million, and Cape Verde completed the podium with EUR 6.9 million.

This year, with January data already available, China leads the ranking in export volume, with 556 tons, followed by Angola with 414 tons and the Philippines with 391 tons.
In terms of value, leadership corresponds to Japan, with EUR 811k, representing an average price of EUR 3.83/kg exported, followed by China with EUR 764k (EUR 1.37/kg) and Angola with EUR 688k (EUR 1.66/kg).
The Philippine market stands out, opened in July of last year, which already showed relevant figures in the last quarter of 2025 and in January takes on a significant role in Portuguese pork exports. In addition to being the third destination in volume, it was the fourth in value, with 684k.
