The National Health, Food Safety and Food Quality Service (SENASICA) of Mexico has reported that this month, the Agriculture and Livestock Service of Chile officially recognized in Mexico as a country free of Classic Swine Fever (CSF).

Recognition by health authorities in Chile is the result of joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), the states and the country's pork producers, who in 2000 initiated a long process, with the declaration of the state of Sonora as free of CSF, and subsequently the rest of the states in Mexico.

This event is relevant to Mexico, since Chile is the first country to accept the entire country as free of CSF, which reinforces the status of the country.
