Brazil: the pork exports decrease for the second consecutive month

Despite the two consecutive months with a negative balance in the volume of fresh pork shippings, they remain positive so far this year.

According to the data of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the exports of fresh pork in April reached 44,500 tonnes: 16% less than in the same period in 2016. Regarding the value of the exports, they grew 21% in comparison with April 2016, reaching USD120.9 million.

Despite the two consecutive months with a negative balance in the volume of fresh pork shipping, they remain positive so far this year. In the first four months of 2017, 198,000 tonnes were exported (3% more than in the same period in 2016). Regarding value, the total balance was USD468.4 million (+40% with respect to the same period 2016).
