The Minister of Agriculture of Brazil (MAPA) has published, on the Internet, three guides on animal welfare in pig production. The publications deal with the handling of the animals on the farms, during their transportation and at the abattoir, and they expect to be of help for the professionals working in the production chain.

The handbooks have been written by the Animal Welfare Committee of the Ministry in collaboration with the Brazilian Pig Breeders' Association (ABCS), Embrapa fowl and pigs, and the Brazilian Support Service to Micro- and Small Businesses (Sebrae).
