Brazil: important increase of the pork exports to Russia and Hong Kong

During last August, Russia and Hong Kong had an involvement in the Brazilian pork exports of 34.40% and 23.12%, respectively, and they were the markets that showed the highest growth.

During last August, Russia and Hong Kong had an involvement in the Brazilian pork exports of 34.40% and 23.12%, respectively, and they were the markets that showed the highest growth. Brazil sold to Russia and Hong Kong 14,503 and 9,749 tonnes of pork, respectively, and this implies an increase by 16.20% and 9.65% in comparison with August 2013.

The total exports during August 2014 reached 42,166 tonnes, which implied an income of US$ 142.38 million, that entails a decrease by 19.44% in terms of volume with respect to August 2103 and an increase by 7.17% regarding income.

Between January and August, the total exports reached 318,996 tonnes and US$ 980.6 million: a decrease by 7.08% in terms of volume and an increase by 10.27% in terms of income.

The main destinations of Brazilian pork during the first eight months of 2014 have been:

Russia: 112,434 tonnes (35.25%)
Hong Kong: 73.703 tonnes (23.10%)
Angola: 33.947 tonnes (10.64%)
Singapore: 23.611 tonnes (7.40%)
Uruguay: 13.932 tonnes (4.37%)

From January to August 2014, the Brazilian states with a higher involvement in the pork exports were: Santa Catarina (139,358 t); Rio Grande do Sul (81,076 t); Minas Gerais (27,990 t); Paraná (27,385 t); and Goiás (26,747 t).
