Brazil: electronic guide to transporting animals in effect

The Brazilian government has introduced the mandatory use of the Electronic Guide for the movement of animals, e-GTA, for interstate transportation and federally inspected establishments. For now, cattle, buffaloes, goats and sheep will have to use this type of guide, while the system for poultry, pork and fish is in the final stages of development and testing for certification.

The measure is part of the Platform for Agricultural Management basic guidelines, created with the aim of improving the quality and access to information for all agricultural society, standardizing and computerizing work processes and meeting the needs of domestic and international markets.
