Brazil: decrease in pork exports in October

The sales of Brazilian fresh pork decreased in terms of volume in October, as well as in terms of the total figures in the first ten months of 2017 in comparison with the same periods in 2016.

According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), in October, the sales of fresh pork reached 48.9 thousand tonnes, a volume 8.1% lower than that in October 2016, with 53.2 thousand tonnes. In terms of value there was a drop by 10%, with USD119.8 million in October 2017 versus USD133 million in October 2016.

From January to October 2017, the value of the exports reached USD1,252 million: an increase by 14% with respect to the same period in 2016 (USD1,099 million). In terms of volume there was a drop by 4.6%, with 502.9 thousand tonnes versus 527.3 thousand tonnes in the first ten months of 2016.
