With the approval of the pork processing plant Uberlândia, located in Minas Gerais, the number of Brazilian companies that can export pork to China rises to four.

The decision was announced on Tuesday, May 22, by the Chinese government. The mission by the Chinese health authorities in Brazil took place in late 2010. From this visit exchanges of information between the veterinary services of both countries were established that led to the authorization of several establishments. Until now 3 slaughterhouses had been authorized to export pork to China, one in Goiás and two in Santa Catarina.

Brazil is in talks to extend this list. The Ministry of Agriculture expects that 14 establishments will be authorized to export pork to China in the first half of 2012.
