ASF spreads through Mongolia

The disease has already been confirmed in 4 different provinces and in a district of the capital.

After the confirmation of the first case of African swine fever (ASF) in Mongolia last January 15th, the authorities have confirmed the presence of the disease in the provinces of Orkhon, Tuv and Dundgovi, as well as in the district of Bayangol, in Ulaanbaatar.

The OIE/WOAH has informed of 4 new outbreaks: two in Orkhon, with 115 and 148 cases, respectively, and one in Tuv, with 17 cases, and in Dundgovi, with 9 cases, all of them on backyard farms, whilst the National Centre for Zoonotic Diseases of Mongolia has informed of the presence of the disease in Ulaanbaatar.

<p>Affected provinces: Bulgan, Orkhon, Tuv and Dundgovi, as well as the district of Bayangol, in Ulaanbaatar.</p>
