The National Reference Laboratory, the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), has confirmed the presence of African swine fever in 14 additional wild boars. As of February 5, 2021, the number of confirmed cases of ASF in the state of Brandenburg stands at 610.

One of the carcasses found was located a few hundred meters outside the existing central area in the Märkisch-Oderland district, but within the white zone and thus in the risk area. The solid fence outside the white zone is now closed. The core area must be adapted and expanded again following this new find. The search for carcasses in the vicinity of the new location has been intensified with the help of dogs, a helicopter, and drones.

Number of confirmed ASF cases in wild boar (as of February 5, 2021):

  • Spree-Neiße district: 50
  • Oder-Spree district: 357
  • Märkisch-Oderland district: 203
  • Total in Brandenburg: 610
