Argentina reaches record figures in pig slaughterings

The slaughtering of pigs during the first 11 months of 2016 increased by almost 9% with respect to the same period in 2015.

The slaughtering of pigs between January and November 2016 reached a new historic record, adding up 5,442,373 heads, entailing a rise by 8.45% in comparison with the same period in 2015, when 5,018,458 heads were slaughtered.

In this sense, the production of pork rose by 7.32% during the first 11 months of 2016, reaching 472,696 tonnes in carcass weight with bone.

On the other hand, the domestic consumption is still growing, reaching an average of 12.47 kg per inhabitant and year.
