During the 2024/25 season, the combination of record planted acreage in Argentina and favorable weather conditions resulted in grain production of 135.8 million tons (Mt), the second highest in history. At the same time, a temporary reduction in export duties, in effect from January 27 to June 30, created a more favorable environment for business and boosted the sector's export momentum.
In this context, official data reveal that between January and June 2025, 48.4 Mt of grains, by-products, and oils were shipped from Argentine ports. This represents a 5% increase over the same period last year and 18% over the three-year average. It should be noted that this average is affected by the exceptionally adverse year 2023, marked by a severe drought that reduced production by more than 50 Mt and, consequently, exports as well.

The year-on-year increase in agro-industrial product shipments was mainly due to higher grain shipments, which totaled 30 Mt, 5% more than in the first half of 2024. Meanwhile, shipments of by-products reached 14.7 Mt (+5%) and oil shipments reached 3.6 Mt (+10%).
Wheat shipments increased by 46% year-on-year in the first half of the year (+2.2 Mt). This growth occurred in the context of a 39% year-on-year recovery in production, following two weak seasons, reaching a harvest of 20.1 Mt. The total supply of wheat for the 2024/25 season was the second highest on record.
Corn exports grew by 1% year-on-year (+140,300 tons). This increase was mainly concentrated in January and February, before the start of the current season, which shows an 8% year-on-year drop in volume.
In contrast, soybean and sorghum shipments fell by 24% and 22% year-on-year, with a reduction of 687,600 and 180,000 tons, respectively. In the case of soybeans, beyond the slight decline in production, part of this decrease is due to increased industrial processing of the oilseed, with growth in exports of its by-products.
Between January and June 2025, Argentine agro-industrial products reached 93 countries. Asia accounted for 48% of shipments, followed by the Americas (20%), Africa (18%), Europe (13%), and Oceania (1%).
Vietnam was the main destination, with 5.4 million tons of grains, by-products, and oils (+4% year-over-year and +15% compared to the three-year average). Saudi Arabia followed with 3.4 million tons (+62% year-over-year), and Brazil in third place with 3.1 million tons (+19% vs. 2024 and +26% compared to the average).
On the other hand, China lost ground after a 40% drop in its purchases, which totaled just 3.1 million tons compared to 5.2 million tons for the same period in 2024, ranking fourth in importance.
