Romanian government's decision to reduce VAT for meat and products from 24% to 9% resulted in an increase of 5 to 10% in the sale of meat.

The decision has caused a significant improvement in the Romanian market, which had endured several years of steady decline. Whilst meat consumption stood at 70 kg per capita in 2009, it reached 58 kg in 2015.
